Smarter Balanced testing for juniors continues this week in students' English and Math classes. AP testing also begins this week with tests in Environmental Science, Calculus, English Literature, and US History. Thursday and Friday are reverse days again for the entire school so that we can accommodate testing students in all four blocks. The periods for Thursday and Friday will start with Periods 7/8, then 5/6, then 3/4, and then 1/2. Our students were great for the first week of testing. You can see juniors making their best efforts and the remainder of our students maintaining a quiet testing environment for their peers. Some lunches will be adjusted only on Thursday and Friday this week. Teachers will be communicating with their students.
This May, one of our clubs, Teens in the Drivers' Seat, will be quite active, reminding students the dangers of driving while intoxicated or distracted. This Wednesday we will be having a guest speaker who will talk with our students about the impact of some of her choices while in high school and college have impacted her life forever. On Thursday, we will be having a health and wellness fair during all of our lunches. Many community health and wellness organizations will be there to speak with students.
Our spring production of Annie opens this week. Don't wait until tomorrow! See it Thursday, Friday, or Saturday! Our students and our staff have been spending countless hours preparing and we are very excited to see the show.
Since we have quite a bit happening this week, I won't run down all of the athletic events but I do want to point out a few. Both softball and baseball play against our rival school, BC, this Wednesday. Come out to see our baseball team at Muzzy at 7:00pm Wednesday. We also have home night games for Lacrosse this week, Thursday for Girls at 7:00pm and Friday for Boys also at 7:00pm.
For parent events, on Tuesday, the Football Booster Club will meet. There will also be a meeting that is mandatory for seniors who plan on attending the after graduation celebration and their families. They will be providing an outline for the evening and will review safety questions and concerns. That meeting will take place at 7:00pm in the cafeteria.
Finally, last but not least, this week is Teacher Appreciation Week. Our teachers work incredibly hard and give of themselves to support our students each and every day. If you've been meaning to send a positive email to a teacher, please take the time to do so this week.
