Events for the Week of January 26

Our midterm exams finish this Monday with students taking their 7/8 and 5/6 exams first in the day.  Please note that Monday is a reverse schedule.

The start of the second semester begins Tuesday.  Students received their schedule on January 14th in advisory.  There will be no advisory period to begin the day.  Students will go directly to their second semester classes.

On Tuesday evening we have planned a College Credit Night for parents and students of grades 9-11.  Students and families who are interested in the many opportunities we provide to earn college credit while in high school are encouraged to attend.  Since we have opportunities for students in grades 10-12, we highly encourage coming to this program to find out what are the right options for you prior to course registration.

On Thursday, we will have our rescheduled Blood Drive.  We appreciate those students who have signed up to donate.  Please remember to begin drinking lots of water two days prior to donating.  You must eat a well-rounded breakfast Thursday before donating.

For varsity home events this week we have Boys' Basketball Monday at 7:00pm against Newington.  We have Boys' Swim on Tuesday at 4:00pm.  On Thursday, the Boys' Basketball team will play at home again against Middletown and swim will compete against Manchester.  Wrestling will be at home on Friday at 7:00pm.  Indoor track competes in their championship on Saturday, best of luck to them.

I know we're expecting some weather events this week, so please stay tuned.  The dates and times of events shared in this message may be subject to change.

Events for the Week of January 20th

As you know we have a holiday this Monday in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. .
Midterm exams will begin this week, starting on Wednesday.  Exams in 1/2 and 3/4 classes will be taken on Wednesday and Thursday this week.  On Friday, we'll be reversing our schedule so we'll be starting with Block 7/8 first in the morning followed by 5/6, 3/4 and 1/2.  This schedule will allow exams to be taken without the interruption of lunch. Students with late arrival and early dismissal, please make note of this change to the schedule.

For varsity home athletic events this week, we have Boys' Swim at 3:45 on Tuesday against Newington.  Also on Tuesday, our Boys' basketball team will compete against Platt.  I don't typically announce away games but on Thursday, our Bristol Eastern girls' basketball team will be playing against the other school in town.  We hope to see a large number of our fans turn out for the game, wearing blue and grey of course.  Stay tuned for more about a fan of the game contest!  On Friday, our Boys' Basketball team will play against BC in our gym at 7:00pm.  We hope to have a great show of school spirit at that game.

On Wednesday, several of our students will be exhibiting their work in progress as part of the Art/Science prize at the Imagination Museum from 5-7.  It would be great to check out their work!

For parent meetings this week, we have our Football Boosters meeting at 6:30pm in the library on Monday.  We also have Project Graduation meeting at 7:00pm in the library on Tuesday.

Save the date of January 30th for our Sweet Sounds Music and Desserts event supporting PABC on January 30th at 6:00pm for a cost of $5.00

We will have an advisory period on Wednesday, January 14th.  At this advisory, students will receive their schedules for the second semester.

Midterm assessments will begin on January 20th and the second semester will now begin on January 25th.  Students should be preparing for their exams this week.

For varsity home athletic events this week, we have boys' basketball Tuesday against Maloney at 7pm.  We also have Wrestling on Wednesday at 6:00pm.  On Friday, we'll have boys' swimming competing against Avon, and Girls' Basketball against Bulkeley at 7pm.
